Founded as the Stoneham Theatre Corp. operating out of a refurbished 1920’s era movie house, the Greater Boston Stage Company has been producing critically acclaimed performances for the greater Boston area for 20 years. With as many as eight mainstage performances a year as well as an educational program and concert series, the organisation has grown to boast a $2 million annual budget.

From youth productions to worldwide premieres
Complementing familiar plays and musicals with world and regional premieres from up and coming playwrights, Greater Boston Stage has seen steady growth, bolstered in part by its year-round educational program for children in grades 1 through 12 that help to stage productions as The Young Company.
Running an off-off-off Broadway financial system
Running the business on a Sage 300 system meant for construction companies that a major donor gave the group access to meant limited visibility into financial operations and limited access for staff. Basic financial reports were cumbersome to create.
Automated reporting steals the show
With a software donation from Oracle NetSuite Social Impact, Greater Boston Stage Company self-implemented NetSuite using the SuiteSuccess methodology and helpful online training courses through the Suite Capacity program. Leadership now has anywhere, anytime access to all of the group’s financial data and reports on day-to-day operations can be created automatically.
Bringing theater beyond the city
As it continues to expand its offerings, Greater Boston Stage Company plans to provide more access to staff, while exploring ways to take advantage of NetSuite capabilities for grant tracking to secure more funding to fulfill the organisation’s mission to bring professional theater beyond Boston’s boundaries.
