Saddleback leather transforms ecommerce with NetSuite SuiteCommerce

SuiteCommerce Helps Leather Goods Retailer Deliver a Rich and Engaging B2C Brand Experience

SAN MATEO, Calif.—October 7, 2014—NetSuite Inc. (NYSE: N), the industry's leading provider of cloud-based financials / ERP and omnichannel commerce software suites, today announced that Saddleback Leather (www.saddlebackleather.com), an online retailer of rugged and distinctive leather bags, luggage, wallets and accessories, has transformed its ecommerce website in just over three months with NetSuite SuiteCommerce to further strengthen and grow its business. The company is now relying on SuiteCommerce to run its entire business from one unified cloud commerce platform that manages everything from ecommerce, financials, inventory management, order management, marketing, manufacturing, customer service and support. This modernization effort enables Saddleback Leather to deliver an end-to-end immersive brand experience to its customers from across multiple devices.

"We wanted to be sure the new site supported and accentuated our unique brand, while also providing an engaging experience and best path to purchase for our customers," said Blake LeBrun, Saddleback Leather Operations Manager. "SuiteCommerce has succeeded in allowing us to deliver a fantastic brand experience across any device that keeps our customers engaged."

Since re-launching on SuiteCommerce in July, Saddleback Leather has seen an increase in overall sales while realizing significant improvements in a number of key ecommerce metrics, including:

  • Improved site load times.
  • Increase in average time on site.
  • Increase in page views per session.
  • Decrease in cart abandonment.
  • Reduction in the single-page "bounce rate" among mobile users.

For Saddleback Leather, the SuiteCommerce implementation is the latest evolution in its use of NetSuite which has been in place since 2011 to replace Salesforce.com, QuickBooks, Excel and a homegrown website. The company is also relying on NetSuite OneWorld to manage its wholly-owned manufacturing operation in Mexico, automating both multi-currency transactions and local tax compliance and financial consolidation across five legal business entities. As the company was looking into ways to transform its ecommerce business and create a more engaging online experience, Saddleback Leather looked to SuiteCommerce to:

  • Gain new capabilities to engage users with a mobile-optimised experience for smartphone and tablet users.
  • Deliver an immersive and visually rich brand experience which includes simple and streamlined checkout.
  • Quickly and easily integrate its existing customised photo solution to showcase its many different product attributes such as colour and size within its product detail pages.
  • Bring together ecommerce, customer service and order management to create a consistent brand experience across every customer interaction.

With the vast majority of its sales from online, Saddleback Leather's website is critical to its success. The deployment of SuiteCommerce comes just in time to handle the company's seasonal sales spikes and support the introduction of new products. With SuiteCommerce, Saddleback Leather is now able to:

Capitalise on growing mobile traffic. With nearly 50 percent of site traffic coming from smartphone and tablet users, Saddleback Leather is delivering a mobile-optimised experience through SuiteCommerce's built-in responsive web design capabilities that have improved time on site and conversion on mobile devices.

Streamline paths to purchase and checkout. Merchandising zones and simplified carting and checkout make it simple for shoppers to explore, select and purchase the leather goods they want.

Deliver rich, interactive imagery. Supporting Saddleback's library of about 30,000 images, SuiteCommerce supplies the capabilities for image zoom, 360-degree rotating views and alternate images that are important for shoppers examining the quality and craftsmanship of leather goods.

Utilise multi-media content. SuiteCommerce enables Saddleback Leather to highlight the brand through clever and entertaining content, imagery and videos of Saddleback products in action in locations around the world.

Supply robust customer self-service. Self-service My Account capabilities in SuiteCommerce make it easy for customers to track order status, manage account details, view purchase history and more.

"We're always looking for new ways to merchandise, and SuiteCommerce gives the merchandising team a lot more flexibility," said LeBrun. "Between the new website and our new product line, we think we're very well positioned for record success this coming holiday shopping season and beyond."
