Becker Safety and Supply was born when Randy Becker started selling safety gloves out of the trunk of his Mercury Topaz to oil and gas field workers in 1999. It remained a small family business for years before growing into a leading distributor of safety-related equipment like fire-resistant clothing, harnesses, hard hats, gas monitors and much more. Becker Safety’s mission is to ensure people get home from their jobs safe and sound.
“With all the efficiencies we’ve gained with NetSuite, our team can focus more on our sales and working with our current and future customers.” Clint Swain, Systems Administrator, Becker Safety and Supply
Randy Becker ran the business out of his home until 2012 when it moved to a 3,500-square-foot warehouse in Greeley, Colo., a space he never expected to outgrow. Today, the company works out of a 12,000-square-foot warehouse as it continues to add new product lines like police and fire department uniforms, tools and equipment.
As Becker Safety started growing rapidly, the business struggled with downtime and mismatched information on inventory, orders and accounting from disparate systems. Identifying and fixing problems ate up employees’ time and sometimes damaged the customer experience. The distributor also wanted to fulfill customers’ requests to buy online.
Becker Safety now has a single source of customer, order and inventory information with NetSuite, driving efficiency gains of 75-85 percent. Painful hours fixing hardware issues are no longer a concern with a cloud solution—supplier invoices that once took hours are done in 15 minutes and order fulfillment is faster.
The company added an online store to reduce phone and email orders while building brand awareness among digital-first prospects. Becker Safety’s B2B clients can now purchase items with account-based pricing and view detailed account information online as their ecommerce website is part of the NetSuite platform and pulls data from the ERP.
